And I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if his child developed powers slightly later than Superman if he was to have a part human heritage. But it is hard to pin these things down considering how long superman has been around for and how dramatically the story has altered over than time. In Smallville he had at least some of his powers from the get-go - Martha mentions he broke the kitchen table when he was three. In Lois and Clark Martha says he only started to get "really really strong" at 13. I assume L&C is closer to canon? I wasn’t sure about that. He would need his powers to be taken away at least temporarily for conception; there are a few ways that this can happen so I certainly wouldn’t describe it as being impossible. A super powered baby shouldn’t be a concern since powers usually develop later in life.
